Drinking good and hygienic water is important to keep your body healthy. If you are drinking untested water, you are more likely to have several dangerous consequences from it, particularly due to bacterial infections. Well, the question is how do you know that the water you are consuming is safe. This is because contaminated water will lead to several problems. Presence of lead and other contaminants in the tap water can result to several consequences, which can at times, prove to be dangerous.

Nowadays, a lot of people opt for drinking untreated spring water or raw water. This is nothing but water in its absolute natural state, without any filtration done. Although this water is pure, there are certain disadvantages that come along with fresh glacier water:

This becomes possible due to the fact that the water goes through a multi step treatment procedure before being available to your homes which filters out all the dirt and germs, thereby making it suitable for drinking. On the contrary, untreated natural spring water does not undergo any of these steps and are thus, vulnerable to all the risks. Also, it contains several viruses that may lead you to Hepatitis A and Norovirus, alongside various parasites that will give you gastrointestinal illness.


Absence of fluoride

Fluoride is known for its ability to lower the chances of severities caused due to cavities, and thus, is extremely important for your oral health. On the other hand, untreated water lacks the presence of this fluoride which will make you even more susceptible to tooth decay and other gum issues.


Heavy metals and minerals

Sources like fresh mountain spring water contains high levels of manganese, arsenic, lead and mercury that becomes toxic over a certain span of time. Also, the presence of excess minerals in the water will cause you kidney issues.


Alkalinity issue or pH imbalances

The water coming from natural springs are high in pH levels which can affect your digestion and thus, lead you to gastric problems, thereby affecting your overall health and well being. Treated water on the other hand, eliminates this acid-base imbalance and makes sure that the water you are drinking is fit for your consumption.
